The store, located at 369 Rockaway Turnpike, is the 37th Verizon Wireless store on Long Island and incorporates a new interactive retail design inviting consumers to experience wireless voice, data, music and video services in a sleek, full-service environment. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The store phone number is 516-239-2016. Features of the new store include:

Store Manager Mitch Scherker also is encouraging area residents to join the company in its efforts to help survivors of domestic violence by bringing no-longer-used wireless phones to the store for donation to the company's HopeLine® phone recycling program. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. HopeLine collects used cell phones to be recycled or sold and donates the proceeds in the form of cash grants and pre-paid wireless phones to advocacy groups for use by survivors.

Verizon Wireless was the first wireless carrier in the nation to collect and recycle old cell phones, and has done so on behalf of survivors of domestic violence since January 1999 - first in New Jersey and then across the U.S. Last year, the company introduced UHopeLine, expanding its recycling efforts to college campuses with the first permanent collection sites at Rutgers University's New Brunswick campus.
