Dont underestimate the SLA's role in accountability. For companies that have dynamic requirements and no down time can be afforded, make sure you have very tight SLAs. For example, OpSource provides a 100% SLA in the cloud and 100%SLA around production application environments. Now 100% is ideally perfect, it comes down to accountability, yo...

NYU College of Nursing School Relies on Epocrates for Clinical Reference Training and Support

Epocrates, Inc., developer of popular clinical reference and decision support tools, announced today that New York University College of Nursing (NYUCN) will provide its graduate students with the company’s mobile software. Building upon its history of nursing excellence, NYUCN has incorporated Epocrates® software and the use of mobile devices into its comprehensive graduate curriculum. The technology will enhance the education experience and help future advanced practice nurses provide high quality, efficient patient care with Epocrates software in hand.

“Many of our graduate students and faculty were already using Epocrates software. We felt it was important to make Epocrates available to all of our future advanced practice nurses, nurse practitioner students and nurse-midwifery students, and provide the educational advantage and support across the board,” said Judith Haber, PhD, APRN, BC, FAAN, associate dean for graduate programs, NYUCN. “The fast, easy access of the clinical information in Epocrates allows nurses to spend more time with patients and less time searching for information and answers.”

By incorporating the use of Epocrates early in the nursing program curriculum, advanced practice nurses of tomorrow will be joining the hundreds of thousands practicing healthcare professionals already using mobile devices with decision support software in clinical practice. A recent survey found that approximately 50 percent of responding nurses across the country estimate saving more than 30 minutes daily using Epocrates software. It provides rapid access to drug information, pill pictures, medical calculators and additional decision support tools.

In the three-year agreement with NYUCN, more than 200 graduate nursing students will receive Epocrates® Essentials premium drug and disease reference guide, available on iPhone® or iPod® touch, BlackBerry® and Palm® devices. With Epocrates Essentials, students can access drug and safety information for prescription drugs, over-the-counter and alternative medicines, as well as evidence-based information on thousands of disease conditions and topics.
