1105 Media Cancels "Virtualization Live" Conference Due to Recession, It Says
The same week SYS-CON Media Announces More Than 40 Exhibitors and a Sold-Out Bootcamp on Nov. 19-21, in San Jose, CA

"1105 Media’s Enterprise Computing Group (ECG) has entered into a content licensing agreement with IT Media in Europe, publishers of numerous IT magazines, Web sites, events and custom media. IT Media’s European audience reach includes France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom and is led by Associate Director Renaud Rosset. The deal will grant IT Media broad access to content from 1105 ECG’s wide array of publishing assets including print issues of Redmond, Redmond Channel Partner, Redmond Developer News, Visual Studio Magazine and Virtualization Review magazines."

These "jokesters" issued a press release today, which opens up with the paragraph above. I did not need to read the rest of it.

"... print issues of Redmond, Redmond Channel Partner, Redmond Developer News, Visual Studio Magazine and Virtualization Review magazines."

This is the sentence that screams "We don't get it, we don't get it, someone please help us, we don't get it!"

Hello my friends at 1105 Media, hello there!

There have not been "print issues " or "print magazines" or print anything for the past five years in technology media. IDG does not do print; CMP does not do print; SYS-CON does not do print.  Where have you been?

And, who is running 1105 Media?

Are these people living on Earth or on Planet Mars?

When it comes to conferences, you do not announce a conference two years behind your competition, one week before Christmas, and in Disney World!

I was looking at their Website today, out of curiosity, to see how many exhibitors and attendees signed up for their Virtualization Live Conference. I don't see any information, oops I found it right here: "Virtualization Live" is now declared Virtualization Dead. Here is the note on the empty Website.

"Due to unprecedented economic conditions and feedback from supplier and attendee companies, we have changed the dates of the ITVirtualizationLive conference at the Gaylord Palms Hotel and Resort in Orlando, Florida from December 9-11, 2008 to early June 2009. We will announce specific dates shortly. We apologize for any inconvenience. Check back soon for further details."

I can't believe these companies are blaming their failure to produce a successful event on the economy.

SYS-CON announced this week they had more than 40 exhibitors and that more than 800 delegates will attend their event next week in San Jose, CA. Three weeks ago SYS-CON delivered another packed conference at the same location in the heart of Silicon Valley.

Hellooo, anyone out there? :- ))
